Nose: Heather smoke and saline mingle at the beginning of the nose. The malt is the showcase in the middle where it provides an earthy quality. Mushroom and oak remind me of old weathered docks. Kelp, or a more vegetal note, comes through at the end of the nose.
Palate: The palate starts off sooty and peppery. It is sweet with honey and orange slices. The mouthfeel is oily. Overall, the whisky is salty and full of tar. However, the finish just comes to an abrupt end. The aftertaste is dry with oak.
